Halotron® I

Excellent Environmental Profile

Halotron® I has very low ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0.0098, as well as a low global warming potential (GWP) of 77 (based on HCFC-123). It has a relatively high boiling point of 80.6°F (27°C).

Overall, when combined with its efficiency, Halotron®
I has the most well balanced environmental profile of any clean fire extinguishing agent.

HCFC Phase-Out Issue

Halotron ® I is based on HCFC-123, which has a near zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). The use of HCFC-123 is regulated by the Montreal Protocol as implemented by the Clear Air Act Amendments of 1990. Since January 1, 2020, new production of HCFC-123 for fire protection is only allowed for agent intended for recharge of equipment made before January 1, 2020. Reclaimed HCFC-123 is used for production of new Halotron®
I agent that can be used to build new equipment utilizing this clean agent.
